Creating a Highlight Video

Below are the steps required to record a highlight video from authorized sources on youtube. This is a quick and easy way to creating a video that you can put on your College recruiting pages.

Required Software

These steps will work with Windows, Mac, and Linux machines.

Preparing your software

Download Firefox and OBS from the links above. Once you have installed the software you will be ready to go with recording videos from youtube. Firefox is required as Chrome and Edge sometimes record black screens when screen recording on youtube.

  • Install Firefox in the default location
  • When installing OBS, choose all the plugins and the default location

Viewing your Videos

The most time intensive part of this process is watching and recording the timestamps for each of the videos that are recorded. Save in a text editor the following information:

  • Video URL, Date, Which team you were on, and who you played against
  • Create a list of plays and their timestamp e.g. "Ground Ball - Assist | 5:09"
  • Determine if you want to create a highlight video or use individual clips for IMLCA (which is included for all Red Devil high school teams)
