  • Line up all one one side of the field, need about 20 yards wide and width of a field
  • Idea is for kids to get alot of repetition with ground balls
  • 3 types of ground ball work, kids go back and forth across the field
  1. Roll ball to self, double move escape (face dodge, roll, split dodge) go to sideline and then to start the other way
  2. Start with ground ball at feet, kick with foot, hockey with stick, double move escape
  3. roll ball out accelerate through it
6:10 - 6:20 Over The Shoulder Passing and Angle Drill

A good drill for your goalies to get good reps on passing for clears, your outside guys getting over the shoulder passes and the inside guys to learn how to get proper passing angles as well as down field for fast break opportunities.

  • A goalie, and 2 lines of players to one side of the goal
  • Both players run down field, goalie hits the outside guy over the shoulder
  • outside player catches the ball and passes to the inside guy who is sprinting faster to get in front of the outside player to get a better angle for passing
  • Switch sides, or run 4 lines and two goalies.

6:20 - 6:40 Clears and Rides

Goalie Free Ride

When riding we are at a disadvantage with 6 vs 7, when a goalie struggles with the ball, we can utilize this to shutdown his passing lanes.

  • Coach yells "Goalie Free Ride"
  • Each kid locks onto his man, feet to feet, leaving the goalie free
  • We hope goalie gets 4 second violation, or panics and throws the ball away

Safety Ride

6:40 - 6:45 Water
6:45 - 7:00 Accuracy Shooting Far Pipe

  • Have two lines of kids about 5-6 yards in front of the goal
  • With back to goal and angle at a triangle at a 45 degree angle from each side of it, turn to the outside, step and shoot for the far pipe
  • Make sure kids spin and step towards the goal to shoot
