Tryout Equipment List

Time Drill
10 Min Assign Squads
  • Introduction to the program by Scott Olive
  • Introduction to the coaches
    • During this evaluation we won't be doing alot of coaching as we are reviewing the players
  • Assign players into their 4 named squads. Duke & UNC Older, Albany Middle, Yale Younger, and Goalie
5 Min Active Stretching
10 Min Line Drills with your squads
  • Right outside, right inside, left outside, left inside, ground ball
15 Min Scooping, Cradling + Faking, Dodging, Sprinting, Shot into goal
Athleticism Drill
  • Full field drill, two goals required
  • Have 5 cone stations, goal is to see basic skills and athleticism
  • Point 1: GB - Have a bunch of balls for kids to scoop through
  • Point 2: Dodging - Setup cones for kids to dodge around
  • Point 3: Fake - Kids make two fakes on the endline goal
  • Point 4: Sprint - Kids sprint up the sideline on the field
  • Point 5: Shooting - Shoot on the run
  • Repeat for a few cycles

Goalies work on on a clearing drill

  • Goalie in a cage in the corner behind station 3: Fake
  • Two goalies at different distances away
  • Coach takes a shot, goalie saves, passes to one of the other goalies at each of the distances
5 Min 4 stations of 2 v 1 Ground Balls
5 Min Water
20 Min Game Situation Stations
  • 4 squads do 2 drills
  • Evaluators move from station to station

Station 1: 2 v 2's top with goalies

Station 2: 1 v 1's top and bottom with goalies

5 Min Water
30 Min Team Play Stations
  • Combine the squads into two groups each group has 1 half of the field (UNC/Duke, Albany/Yale)
  • 15 min at each station

Station 1: West Genny 4 v 3 or 3 v 2

  • Play West Genny on half of a field sideline to sideline

Station 2: 5 v 5 sideways

  • Divide the players into two teams
  • Players play one or two times on offense and defense then rotate for the next group
