RDU U9 Practice Plan 6 to 8PM

Minutes Drill Information
6:00 to 6:10 Soccer Turn Ground Ball Drill
  • Two players 10 yards apart
  • A third player placed in the middle
  • 1 player rolls the ball to the middle he scoops, switches hands and fires a pass to the outside player, who then rolls it back
  • Middle player alternates picking up ground balls with left and right hand.
  • Run drill for 30 seconds then rotate
  • Split up team in groups of 3
6:10 to 6:20 Three Lines, man vs man ground ball drill
  • split teams into groups of 7 or 8
  • get 3 lines roll the ball out and fight 1 on 1 on 1
  • Person that wins it rolls out and passes to coach and gets back in line
  • Becomes 2 on 2 and then solo
6:20 to 6:25 Water
6:25 to 6:40 Full field clear drill
  • Full field clears. Goalie to defender, defender to middie, middie to attack, attack to X, cutting middie gets pass and shoots
6:40 to 6:50 Offense Popup and Cut Drill
  • 6 Players in two groups
  • Players pass ball, adjacents pop out, across players cut and return one at a time
6:50 to 6:55 Water
6:55 to 7:05 Meat Grinder
  • 1 on 6
7:05 to 7:30 Tic Toc (5 v 5)
  • Defense runs clockwise inside the crease, offense runs counter-clockwise outside the crease
  • If you dont have a goalie, put a bag in the goal players must hit bag with shot
  • offense eyes on the ball when running
  • offensive players must pass the ball twice off every ground ball (ground ball-pass-pass)
  • Adjacent need to create space for an easy pass-pass outlet
  • As the offense gets possession they must have an easy target on each side of the player who gained possession. Offensive players need to immediately recognize and react to be the adjacent.
  • Attack the cage after the second pass
  • Following the shot, defense clears the ball to the midline and next groups rotate in

7:35 to 7:50 2 on 2 top and bottom
7:50 to 8:00 Sprints
