Time Drill
5 Min Active Stretching
10 Min Warmup Keep Away
  • Build an area with cones about the size of the top of the box to the mid line
  • Have 6 defenders and 5 offense
  • Offense keeps the ball away without going out of bounds
  • If ball turns over, subtract a defender and add an offense
  • Variation: If ball touches ground, turnover


10 Min Ground Ball Train

  • Line up all one one side of the field, need about 20 yards wide and width of a field
  • Idea is for kids to get alot of repetition with ground balls
  • 3 types of ground ball work, kids go back and forth across the field
  1. Roll ball to self, double move escape (face dodge, roll, split dodge) go to sideline and then to start the other way
  2. Start with ground ball at feet, kick with foot, hockey with stick, double move escape
  3. roll ball out accelerate through it

  • Work on Sliding and recovering
  • Split guys into two different colors
  • Put 3 guys on offense and 3 guys on defense
  • Offense doesn't shoot
  • Put two goalies on the sides behind the goal about near the end line, or put two coaches
  • Offense drive, and can pass to the goalies down low, the first goalie swings it to the 2nd and back up top
  • An offensive player runs down the alley, we slide from the crease, the 3rd guy fills the crease
  • The first guy turn and go back to the crease to recover
  • Defense should talk to say slide, fill, recover
  • Defender determines where the ball is going, take away the middle of the field

Half Naz Shooting Drill

  • Create 3 lines of kids
  • 1 Line outside of the top of the box
  • 1 Line midway between goal and top of box
  • 1 Line behind the goal on the same side of the field as the other 2 lines
  • Balls should be at the top and side lines
  • Top line, passes to the behind the goal line, that player runs behind x and passes to the guy that fed him
  • Side Line, then passes to the attack coming around X and he quick stick shoots
  • Players rotate from bottom to top



10 Min 1 on 1 Ground Ball - Pass Pass Shoot Drill

This drill mimics the need to make a pass quickly after successfully scooping up a ground ball.

  • 2 players, a coach, and a goalie are required
  • 2 players line up at the top of the box and the coach gently rolls out a ball
  • The 2 players fight for the ball, the first person to get it passes to the coach on the sideline, and then breaks to the goal to catch a pass (give and go)
  • Upon receiving the pass, the player attempts to score
  • The player that does not get the ground ball, plays defense
