Time Drill
5 Min Active Stretching
  • Start with a warm up jog of a full length of the field and back
  • Knee huggers (hamstrings): Hug each knee to the chest, moving hips forward
  • High kicks (hamstrings, hips): Kick leg up and across the body towards raised hand on opposite side. Let leg free fall (lightly) backwards.
  • Lateral slides (groin, hips, knees, ankles, lower back): *visualize a line of hurdles* move laterally while ducking under each hurdle.
  • Heel scoops (hamstrings, lower back): Extend leg out in front with heel on the ground. Reach with both hands towards the heel. Come “through the leg” with arms all the way above the head.
  • Toe touches (hamstrings, core): On one foot, reach down and across the body towards the foot on opposite side. Simultaneously reaching behind with unplanted leg.


5 min Warmup jog twice around the field
10 Min Figure 8 passing
  • All Right, All Left, Catch Left/Throw Right, Catch Right/Throw Left
10 Min Keep Away - Add One
15 Min Stations Faceoffs

Tom - Work exits with faceoff guys

Dave - Face Off: Belly to Helmet Drill

  • Talk about the Belly to Helmet
    • Get to the point of no return, don't put your stick down on his (as he can exit)
    • As the person exits, that's when we check the stick
    • Stay on top of him

drill 1

  • Start with one guy down, the other guy at a slight angle standing
  • Down/Set/Go called by the standing guy
  • The standing guy can only check on the exit

drill 2

  • Run through faceoffs, Have one guy clamp and spin, have the other guy mirror with belly to helmet
  • After at least 1 full rotation spinning, have player try to rack it out
10 Min 3v3 faceoffs - faceoff vs belly to helmet guys - Soccer circle
15 Min Offense, Defense, Goalie Station - Dave to roam

Offense - Marcus

Reading Defender

  • Dodging and reading your defenders feet
    • Explain how it takes time to move your feet into the opposite direction when defending
  • Make a cone goal line (6 feet)
  • Marcus has a stick and points his feet, kid dodges to heel side

3 Man Bunch with GB

  • Have 3 kids bunch together
  • Marcus roles a ball, calls a kids name, he gets the GB
  • Two other players space out and make two passes


Defense - Mikey

  • Setup 6 foot circumference circle

3 Man approach and recover

  • Have 6 players (3 offense, 3 defense)
  • Offense passes the ball, defense reacts and approaches and recovers to the hole, while talking

Delta Drill

  • Have two offensive guys (one 10 yards away from circle the other in front), and 2 defensive guys covering
  • Offense drives down the alley and tries to get inside the circle, draw the slide
  • Defense stop man, other guy trail checks


Goalie - Tom - Screening Shooting with Pink Balls

  • 6 point shooting warmup with real ball
  • Two volunteers holding a Rage Cage
  • Tom shoots pink balls over, under, left, right of the rage cage
10 Min Face-Off to Fastbreak
  • Put a goalie in the net and 3 attack and 3 defense
  • Have your middies at the midline in two lines on opposite sides of the field
  • 4 middies are in the drill at once. Two middies face off, the middie line on their butt end side is on their team
  • We do the face off, the face off guys, look to pop the ball out to a wing guy, the wing guy that wins it goes down for a fast break, the other players are out of the game play
  • Keep score on each side of the midfield
  • Alternatives: Have a chaser middie after 2-3 seconds and have the face-off middie go mono vs mono
