This drill teaches the importance of attacking the ball and communicating with your team mates.

  • 6 players are used for the drill, 3 per team
  • The rule of 3 is one player goes for man, the other ball, the last hovers and circles called the shark
  • A coach rolls a ball out and the players call man, ball, and the 3rd person hovers/circles to try and get the ball if its kicked out.
  • The “man” player looks to box out the closet competitor
  • The “ball” player runs through the ball and tries to scoop it, if its not possible, the player looks to flip the ball out to the 3rd player hovering and circling.
  • The 3rd player (shark) runs in half circles or full circles around the scrum looking to get a ball kicked out to them.

3-2-1 Setup and Motion Cutting and Returning

  • 3 middies at top, 2 attack at GLE, 1 attack at x
  • Ball comes in at x, x passes to an attack at GLE
  • Opposite side of field middie cuts to goal, and gets the pass, from the opposite side, other two middies adjust and rotate
  • Keep going until all 3 middies get to shoot

15 Min - Tic Toc (5 v 5)

  • Defense runs clockwise inside the crease, offense runs counter-clockwise outside the crease
  • If you dont have a goalie, put a bag in the goal players must hit bag with shot
  • offense eyes on the ball when running
  • offensive players must pass the ball twice off every ground ball (ground ball-pass-pass)
  • Adjacent need to create space for an easy pass-pass outlet
  • As the offense gets possession they must have an easy target on each side of the player who gained possession. Offensive players need to immediately recognize and react to be the adjacent.
  • Attack the cage after the second pass
  • Following the shot, defense clears the ball to the midline and next groups rotate in
