10 Min Open Set Passing
  • Get in the open set, move two balls around, run to the line you pass to
5 Min Water
10 Min 5 Yard GB Freeze
  • Players line up at a designated point on the lacrosse field.
  • Each athlete holds a ball in their stick.
  • On the first whistle, each player rolls a ball out about five yards in front of them.
  • At the second whistle, they run to the ball, get in scoop position and then freeze.
  • On the third whistle, players scoop through and sprint to the next designated point.
10 Min Footwork Approach Above GLE

https://www.hoganlax.com/approach-above-gle

  • Drill is useful on how to approach a man above GLE
  • Approach is when sliding or adjusting to your man getting the ball
  • We want to take away the inside of the field while approaching the man

Setup

  • Setup 2 cones at the top of the box at the start of the alley
  • Setup 2 cones about 10 feet in front of the crease with 10 feet in between
  • Have the defense, goalies, middies stand behind the goal
  • Have the players run to the first cone, stop then sprint to the cone at the top of the alley, and breakdown
  • Back should be turned towards the inside of the field, then sidestep out 45 degrees
  • Players should run both sides of the field

10 Min Star Recovery Drill
Star Recovery Drill
  • Interior cones mark out the “heart,” or most dangerous area of the field.
  • Practice covering inside out and back again
  • on-ball defenders have one responsibility: stop the ball carrier.
  • Off-ball defenders need to worry about protecting the inside, keeping head on a swivel with assigned attacker, and be ready to cover open players should you need to slide
  • Setup two sets of cones like in the diagram
  • Kids start at the X's and approach and recover at each cone
  • Exterior cones represent an offensive player preparing to dodge.
  • Defender slides to cones on an angle, not a direct line.
  • Stick should be up field when breaking down on the exterior cones.
  • Stick should be to the inside (in passing lanes) at interior cones.
  • Variation: Add offensive guys on the outside and one in the crease, pass the ball around, have the whole team defense approach and recover

5 Min Water
15 Min Stations: Goalie and Shooting

Goalie

  • Walk the Line
  • Rope step over
  • 6 point shooting with tennis balls

North/South East/West 2 passes and dodge

  • 4 lines of kids
  • Start balls behind with a ground ball, pass, pass dodge shoot
  • Coach makes sure it goes both sides down below
  • As soon as the ball goes east/west or crosses the limbo line, dodge to the cage
  • Off a ground ball they move the ball twice
  • Move to green space, stick your stick out and pass to the adjacent, then to the weakside and begin a dodge to goal
  • Have 2nd pass shoot
10 Min Dice Drill
  • Best to run with 25+ kids but need 19 min (4 lines of 4 guys, and 2 crease guys, and 1 goalie)
  • Put guys on the field in a 5 v 5 dice pattern
  • Add a second crease at the five/five its 2 points and encourages a middle shot
  • Kids play 5 v 5, making the east/west dodge rule, if dodging and don't have a shot, pass and cycle continues
  • Look to score in the middle, if you don't have it move the ball twice and dodge again
  • Bonus: every ball pass sub both the off/def guy
5 Min Water
30 Min 6 v 6
10 Min Radar Gun
