* Championships are won when individuals play as one team, When they put their feelings aside for the good of the team and remain positive. Each person played a role that was necessary for us to win, here are the awards:
* Pros
** Cannons Game - Our ride was unbelievable, we caused 3 or 4 turnovers by being patient, attacking the goalie at the right time, and letting them make mistakes. Middies did a fantastic job locking on their man (which was something we practiced)
** ECYLL Game - Great ball movement down the field, no selfish play on offense, half of the goals were assisted, we took the right shot at the right time
** All Games - Our attack drove the ball really well, drawing the double and dumping, this allowed for middies to score and make plays from the top
** All Games - Overall we won the ground balls, we boxed out really well, we called out man/ball
* Cons
** We didn't do the best job of swinging the ball

* Landon - 3 GB's, 1 take away on the ride, 4 goals 2 assists

* Sam - The bulldog with too many GB's to count and 3-4 goals and 2-3 assists
* Marcus - 3 "man" boxing out, 2 GB's, 1 goal. Most importantly he switched positions without complaint to play where the team needed him to play
* Timmy - The speedy Gonzales award - broke his players ankles and got a sweet goal. Most importantly he was a positive force for the team, cheered his friends on, and was a great team mate

10 Min Buckeye Ground Ball
  • Drill teaches kids to scoop the ball on the run and make two quick passes (Ground Ball - Pass - Pass)
  • Teaches kids to get a proper angle as an adjacent for receiving a pass

Drill

  • Make 3 lines of kids with the outside lines being 10 yards apart
  • Put the balls in the middle with two goalies to the outside of the outside lines
  • Roll a ball out, have the middle guy scoop it up, pick a side to throw to, and then throw to the other guy
  • Last guy with the ball circles or question mark and then passes to a goalie and we repeat
  • Have some confusion in the middle and run continual
  • Variation: Add a chaser for the 2nd and 3rd pass

10 Min Steal the Bacon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9U3Mm5vpP4

  • No rakes, slapping sticks, only scooping through and keeping the ball moving forward. You lose if you do bad things
  • Divide the team into two groups (Dark and Light)
  • Have the lineup in the restraining line on either side of the box in a single file line
  • Coach has the balls in the middle of the field
  • Put a goalie in the cage
  • Coach calls out two numbers (2 and 2) and two guys go from each line
  • Coach can call 1 v 1, 2 v 1, 3 v 2, etc
  • The coach rolls out the ball and they compete, whoever gets the ball goes to score
  • Keep score and keep it competitive.

5 Min Water
10 Min Stations: Rotate middies

Station 1: Defense and 1 middie line 2v2 Cylinder Approaches

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlWQt1ZzVZw&t=3s

Good drill to help the defense with their approaches to the ball.

  • Have defensive players pair up
  • Group 4 defensive players together
  • Have two outside players about 15-20 yards apart
  • Put a line of cones down the middle, each of the side guys are 5-10 yards from the cones
  • Put two defenders in the middle, one covers the man with the ball, the other with his foot on the line, but towards the other offensive guy
  • A man passes to the next, defense must adjust and give a lift check, The other defender runs to the mid line
  • After the lift check the defense stops engaging, player makes the pass, defense adjusts again
  • Far Defense guy keeps their stick up looking to intercept passes

Cones - Forward and Heels, Back Pedal, and turn hips

Station 2: Attack and Middies Boxer Play

10 Min Man Up & Man Down
  • Man Up is skeleton, working on Man Down sliding
  • Play with 2 Man Down

Kids not playing do the London Bridge Drill

5 Min Water
10 Min 4 on 4 Escalation

The goal of this drill is to give kids the opportunity to try individual 1 on 1, 2 man game, and escalate up to a 4 on 4 situation

  • Put a goalie in the cage
  • 4 lines of defenders and offensive players were placed just outside the box (8 total lines)
  • Attack and Defense are behind the goal, midfielders are divided into offense and defense
  • To start the goalie passes a ball to the back left attack, that attack and defender go 1 on 1 and attempts to score
  • After the play is over, the goalie passes the ball to the back right attack and the first attack and defender are in play with the new attack and defender
  • After the play is over the goalie passes to the top left midfielder and its a 3 on 3
  • After the play is over the goalie passes to the top right midfielder and its a 4 on 4
  • When all four lines go the next group begins
  • Note: you can either rotate players or keep them in the lines they are in
  • Note: make sure you have midfielders play both offense and defense
