10 Min Zip and Skip Drill

  • 5 cones positioned around the net, top near the box
  • Player should pop-out or pop towards the ball to mimic getting open
  • Move the ball around the net, catch on the outside, turn, switch hands and pass on the outside
  • Move your feet to get ready to receive the ball
  • Run to the line you pass to
  • Quicker we move the ball the tougher the defense can recover
  • Receive the pass, one or two craddles, then make accurate pass
  • Variation: Use a long pole as a limbo GB, coach places ball, player drops their ball


10 Min Stations
  • Offense - Shooting (determine who our outside shooters are for EMO)
  • Defense - Slide Package, communication, 6 cone drill practice PP and Amigo and communication
  • Goalies - Warmup Drills, hand motion, 7 point shooting
10 Min Rides
  • Goalie Free - Simple Default Ride
  • Zone Ride - 3-3
    • Defense Lock attack, until the ball is 5-10 yards past the midline on defensive side

10 Min Offense Walkthrough
  • Default Set: 2-2-2 (Pairs offense, mirror dodger, backside exchange)
  • Quad Set: 4-2 (Dodge from X in a two man game, crease open, cut opposite side)
  • Alley Set: 3-2-1 (Dodge shorty, crease pop, fade/follow, move the ball twice then dodge)


10 Min Defensive Walkthrough
  • PP defend inside and out, once ball gets into the Box we need to get into a tighter formation, don't worry about your guy at the Box line. When your guy gets the ball approach, run and pressure when he throws. We need to yell got you left and right to help us get into the right positions.


5 Min Team Defense
  • Play defense with no sticks against an offensive with sticks, communication is key
  • PP
  • Amigo


10 Min EMO
  • Push/Pull model - ball coming towards pop-out, when its going away fill to the middle of field
  • Crease follows the ball and tries to move the middle defender to create skip lanes
  • Look for the skip lanes, move the ball quickly
  • With the ball step in, and draw a guy, move the ball to the next player
  • Catch the ball, ready to shoot
  • Use fakes, no looks, for skip lanes
  • If crease guy slides, have our guy follow behind with stick up
  • this forces the bottom low defenders to pinch in


10 Min Defense - Alley Control Drill - with 3 phases of Delta Drill
  • Make 2 football hash marks around the goal
  • No goalie, put in a shot blocker
  • Phase 1: One offense, one defense top of box, defensive player tries to control him down the alley
  • Phase 2: Turns into the delta drill with a defender and offensive player in middle, middle defensive player times sliding to double, calls away tries to force a turnover
  • Phase 3: Add a middie and defender to the top, making it a 3v3. Ball dodges from the top, draws the "hot" slide from crease, the first guy goes "away", passes up top, and away guy sends the far crease guy back up, continue on the other side
  • Phase 4: Add a player and defender at X. Same player dodges, the defenders hedge, the offensive player passes to X, the away defender goes through the hole, and crease defensemen tells the "away" guy where to go. The X guy passes to top right and defense adjusts
