Time Drill
5 Min Active Stretching
10 Min Shooting Drill Slow Break

  • No goalie
  • 4 lines form box around goal
  • Top right person passes down to GLE lower person, that person cuts turns towards X and passes to bottom left
  • Top left runs to set pick and top right comes down and gets pass from bottom left and shoots.
  • Rotate lines to the left


10 Min Ground Ball Train

  • Line up all one one side of the field, need about 20 yards wide and width of a field
  • Idea is for kids to get alot of repetition with ground balls
  • 3 types of ground ball work, kids go back and forth across the field
  1. Roll ball to self, double move escape (face dodge, roll, split dodge) go to sideline and then to start the other way
  2. Start with ground ball at feet, kick with foot, hockey with stick, double move escape
  3. roll ball out accelerate through it


10 Min Defense Funnel Drill

Teach the kids how to properly backpedal, not to over commit, push the hips

  • Setup 2 sets of cones about 2 feet apart
  • One set of cones is halfway from the box to the goal going from the middle of the field diagonally down to GLE
  • The other set of cones starts about 5 feet from GLE and goes diagonally out towards the alley
  • Have 2 lines one behind the goal the other at mid line
  • 2 players go out, defense backpedals until hitting the cones and then pushes their man's hips funneling them out of scoring position


10 Min Defense Slide, Recovery, Collide Drill

Goal of Drill: Sliding and Recovering. Slide with a good angle, contain the dodger, call away and cover the inside

  • 4 players and a coach in the drill
  • Start with a coach in the middle as a crease player and 2 defensive player in the hole
  • 3 Cones up top to show where they dodge from
  • Line of players at the top, first guy goes without a ball or no stick (to focus on beating his man)
  • 5th guy is playing straight up defense to try and force the guy down the alley or pick a side
  • Inside a guy is the slide man, he is covering the coach, yells "Hot", slides under control, then calls the "away"
  • Cover man holds the coach and then pops up when away comes
  • Rotate to the next position. It goes dodger, defender, slider, cover man



10 Min Rotate Correctly within a man-down defense
  • 5 Offensive guys in a 3-3 or 2-3-1 (coach on the crease)
  • Man down defense in
  • Offense moves the ball around, defense looks to go ball - 1 - 2
  • At all times the 2 defenders need to be touching the crease guy
  • Players yell ball, 1 and 2



10 Min Numbers Drill
10 Min Devil Ground Ball Drill
  • Bring an extra long pole
  • 4 guys in the drill
  • Ball on the ground about a yard in front of the guy scooping the ball, about 2 yards away are two chasers, off to the side is an outlet guy
  • On whistle scoop through the GB, arms tight to the body
  • Run through the ball, keep it going your way, Make a big turn with the ball to escape pressure, ball carrier and outlet guy communicate
  • Defense don't kill the ball handler
  • Switch the outlet and GB guy, then rotate defense to GB and outlet (switching long poles)



10 Min Defense - Alley Control Drill - with 3 phases of Delta Drill
  • Make 2 football hash marks around the goal
  • No goalie, put in a shot blocker
  • Phase 1: One offense, one defense top of box, defensive player tries to control him down the alley
  • Phase 2: Turns into the delta drill with a defender and offensive player in middle, middle defensive player times sliding to double, calls away tries to force a turnover
  • Phase 3: Add a middie and defender to the top, making it a 3v3. Ball dodges from the top, draws the "hot" slide from crease, the first guy goes "away", passes up top, and away guy sends the far crease guy back up, continue on the other side
  • Phase 4: Add a player and defender at X. Same player dodges, the defenders hedge, the offensive player passes to X, the away defender goes through the hole, and crease defensemen tells the "away" guy where to go. The X guy passes to top right and defense adjusts
