Horsey Drill 3 Man Redirection
The purpose of this drill is to teach attack behind the goal to turn back and redirect the ball the other way when doubled and no other option exists
- Take your attack and a few middies that want to play attack
- Setup 3 guys in a triangle with a guy starting with the ball at x
- The man at x, starts with the ball and picks a side, the guy at GLE clears through the crease
- The man at x, breaks GLE and the turns back, dodging first then changing hands
- The 3rd guy who was at opposite GLE is now at X, and the ball is redirected to him
- The 3rd guy goes around the goal passes to the 2nd guy who shoots
- If you are going left, you catch left hand, if going right you catch with the right hand
Station Defense
- Defense calls out numbers
3 Person Slides
The goal of this drill is to have your defense talk and do 1 and 2 position slides
- Place a goalie in goal
- The drill turns into 3 on 3
- Create 4 lines of defense and offensive players (8 total lines) around the goal, 1 line at each corner just outside the box
- Create a 5th line of offensive and defensive players to play in the crease
- Place two piles of balls at each of the top corners
- An offensive and defensive player runs into the crease
- Ball starts at one of the top corners, the offensive player with the ball goes 1 on 1
- If he beats his man, the crease defender slides, offensive player looks to pass it to the crease
- The offensive player behind and diagnal from where the drill starts runs towards GLE
- The 2nd defenseman slides and covers the crease
- Coach should emphasize two slides

Pick and Roll Drill
- Set up 4 cones around the 12 and 8 meters, two cones up top and two on goal line extended out about 10 yards.
- The balls are down low at the lower cones with X1. X1 looks to drive up the lane and accept a pick from X2.
- X2 must time the pick and stay still until X1 passes and releases off the pick.
- X2 then rolls off towards the goal and looks for the feed from X1. X1 must be sure to keep moving to create space to feed X2 in the middle.
- Both lines are going at the same time, and all feeds end with a shot into the goal.

John Hopkins 3v2 Challenge
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivm2d55bOY8
Great competition drill that teaches soft hands on offense and quick ball movement.
- Have the kids split up with dark vs light
- Have each team run for 5 minutes in offense and defense and keep track of who wins
- Setup 5 cones around the goal, the cones are in a star pattern with the top of the star at the top of the goal about 10 yards away
- Have the defense on the back 2 cones behind the net
- Have the offense on the top 3 cones
- Place a goalie in the net and use tennis balls
- Coach throws a ball to an offensive player and it turns into a 3v2
- Defense has to adjust to the man and talk to stop the ball from going in the net
The losing team has to do extra pushups or sprints
