Time Drill
5 Min Active Stretching
20 Min Hogan Pace of Practice Passing Drills
32 Cuse Shooting.png

Goal is to get a ton of touches with a high amount of engagement in a short period of time

  • Drill 1: Two man passing down field
  • Drill 2: Four Corners - Over the shoulder passing (all right, all left, catch right throw left, catch left throw right)
    • Goalies in the middle with balls
    • 4 corners 15-20 lines out
    • 2 balls, goalies follow the ball, if the ball gets dropped the goalie passes a new ball to the next guy in line
  • Drill 3: 32 Cuse Shooting Drill
    • 4 players in the drill, in the Cuse offense (32 dodger, fade, cutter, and low attack)
    • Two balls, one starts at the 3 position the other at the 2 position
    • 3 dodger, does a 32 curls back or pull passes to fade guy who shoots
    • At the same time cutter receives a feed from the 2 attack and shoots
    • Players rotate to the left with cutter going to low attack

10 Min Stacked Sliding Drill

Teaching kids defensive slide sets is important but difficult to implement in a game due to the chaos. An important principle for defenders to learn is how to slide and recover.

  • 4 offensive players in the four corners
  • Put a goalie in cage and put 3 defenders stacked in a straight lin in the middle of from the crease
  • Assign a number 1,2,3 to each of the defenders or call out their names
  • The offense should move the ball, keep spacing, and shoot only off a pass across the crease or skip pass
  • The defense will have to come out and slide to the ball and recover. The coach calls a number 1,2,3 and the designated player with that number is the player who must make the slide and recover
  • As the ball is passed, a coach calls another different number and the assigned player slides aggressively to the ball.
  • The first defender recovers to the inside hole, stick to the inside and in the passing lane, with head up looking for the next dangerous guy

20 Min Offensive Concepts
  • 4-2 Set with 53 Cuse, 32 Cuse, Deuce and Deuce Long
  • North/South East/West - dodging on top wings
  • Zero Set - 21 and 12 with backside exchange and cut from middies
20 Min 6 v 6
  • Work on the concepts above with 50% Defense
10 Min 3v3 Rondo to fastbreak 6v6
10 Min Man Up vs Man Down
20 Min Stations: Faceoff and Time & Room Shooting / Defensive Approaches

Face Offs

Star Recovery Drill

Star Recovery Drill
  • Interior cones mark out the “heart,” or most dangerous area of the field.
  • Practice covering inside out and back again
  • on-ball defenders have one responsibility: stop the ball carrier.
  • Off-ball defenders need to worry about protecting the inside, keeping head on a swivel with assigned attacker, and be ready to cover open players should you need to slide
  • Setup two sets of cones like in the diagram
  • Kids start at the X's and approach and recover at each cone
  • Exterior cones represent an offensive player preparing to dodge.
  • Defender slides to cones on an angle, not a direct line.
  • Stick should be up field when breaking down on the exterior cones.
  • Stick should be to the inside (in passing lanes) at interior cones.
  • Variation: Add offensive guys on the outside and one in the crease, pass the ball around, have the whole team defense approach and recover
