  • Divide players into six groups: two rows with three lines in each, facing each other
  • Start in the bottom left corner, throwing the ball to top left.
  • Players will catch, switch hands, and move the ball to the person in the middle, passing in the shape of a W

10 Min Question Mark Ground Ball
  • Have the kids form a line
  • Roll the ball out away from the line
  • Have the kids call ball and release
  • Upon scooping up the ball, the kids run in a question mark pattern to avoid the trailing stick
  • Coach should use the term "Run to Daylight"
  • Throw the ball back to coach and repeat

5 Min Water
20 Min New Play - Iron
  • Set up in 1
  • Triangle Low
  • 3 middies in a row
  • Double pick
5 Min Water
10 Min Defensive Lock Down 3 Man Press (ball-1-2 press)
  • Show kids how to do the 3 man press against a 2-3-1 and 3-2-1
  • Kids should continue to call out numbers, all 1's lock on their man and run hip to hip
  • Have a shadow offense work with the defense

10 Min 4 on 4 Mini Game
  • Setup two goals about the width of a lacrosse field
  • Have a goalie plus 4 players on each team
  • Start with a faceoff
  • Play with no offsides, after a goal, goalie passes without faceoff
  • Games last for 5 minutes, then rotate new teams

5 Min Water
10 Min 3v1 - 3v2 Shooting

https://www.hoganlax.com/3v1-3v2-shooting

  • Drill is useful for teaching midfield to shoot under pressure
  • Starts as a 3v1 and can be changed to 3v2 to make the midfield read the field

Setup

  • Have a goalie, 1 line of defense to the side at GLE, 1 line of attack in the back, 2 lines of midfield up at midline
  • Balls start at x, the attack makes a cut around the crease with the defense in front of the goal in ready position
  • The attack picks a middie to pass to, defense slides and applies pressure (the attack is out of the play and so is the other middie) its just 1v1
  • Next, change it to 3v2, its the same setup except 2 defense and when the attack makes a pass the midfield work together. The first middie to receive the pass must read the defense and either shoot or pass.

10 Min Steal the Bacon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9U3Mm5vpP4

  • No rakes, slapping sticks, only scooping through and keeping the ball moving forward. You lose if you do bad things
  • Divide the team into two groups (Dark and Light)
  • Have the lineup in the restraining line on either side of the box in a single file line
  • Coach has the balls in the middle of the field
  • Put a goalie in the cage
  • Coach calls out two numbers (2 and 2) and two guys go from each line
  • Coach can call 1 v 1, 2 v 1, 3 v 2, etc
  • The coach rolls out the ball and they compete, whoever gets the ball goes to score
  • Keep score and keep it competitive.

5 Min Water
10 Min Dragon 4v3

A good before game warmup

  • Line the midfield at the top of the field in 3 lines
  • 3 Middies, 1 drops in to play defense
  • 2 Attack and 2 Def lines to the side of the goal
  • Goalie in Net
  • 15 seconds to score or drill over
